Last week, the bp team had the honour of sponsoring a great event : The Artist Project.

One of Toronto’s largest contemporary art shows that showcases artists and artwork from all across the globe, The Artist Project is in its seventh year and allows the art lover –
whether seasoned or green – to buy directly from the artist.

The team had the pleasure of beautifying their hostess team (see pic above!) and
bringing to life the theme for this year’s event : set sail!

@Zamlos of The Curious Creature, did a fabulous write up on the event, which I encourage you to read here. A big thank you to her for letting us share!

Hopefully we will have more pics to come …

Have a great weekend everyone!

bp love : inspiration

February 27, 2014By DJMC

I like to think part of what makes the bp team so awesome is the fact that everyone really owns the idea of being a “girl’s girl.” We’re supportive, we focus on making each other feel great and draw our inspiration from trailblazing ladies who hustle no matter what path they’re on.

What kind of ladies fuel our inner fires to be better and inspire us to express ourselves in new, edgy ways? Let’s take a look…

Stephanie “I don’t think we can truly do an inspiration post WITHOUT paying our respects to Queen Bey. Am I right? I mean, woman drops an album overnight with no warning and literally skyrockets to the top of the charts. No promotions. No teasers. Nothing. Now that’s power. Given that I’m growing out my pixie, I’m moving towards a lob and Beyonce’s is the perfect mix of classic and edgy. While I don’t think I can pull off her wet look a la Grammy’s 2014, I do plan to try the twisted wavy thing she’s got going on. And then there’s her body … I’m not even going to talk about how she makes having a curvier (but toned) “fatty” look proper. You should just already know! She inspires me to always look like a video vixen … and to never eat a cheeseburger again.”

Morgan “Let’s talk about Luptia Nyong’o for a minute. Not only did she steal the show in 12 Years a Slave (seriously, if she doesn’t take home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress I might will lose it), but girlfriend has been owning every red carpet she has stepped foot on this awards season. Her skin is perfection, her makeup choices are bold and beautiful, and she’s turning heads for all the right reasons. She inspires me to take more risks in my style and try new things – particularly with lip colour (purple? orange? nude? she rocks it  all). Basically, she is my new queen and I simply bow down to her.”

Lil Steph “Currently, Jennifer Lawrence) is at the top of my inspo list. At 23, she’s already an Academy Award winning, $20 million Dior contract signing success story. From Silver Linings Playbook to the Hunger Games, she’s not your typical Hollywood beauty. Plus, she’s got balls (re: pixie cut) and a sassy personality to boot. Sometimes I’ll rock a messy braid (Katniss Everdeen style) and a smudged eyeliner inspired by her glory.”

Regina “Jennifer Lopez has been a beauty and style influence for me for many years. It’s great to see how she has evolved from when she first started out dancing as a “Fly Girl” on In Living Color in the 1990s to an actress, singer, mother and judge on American Idol.

Her current makeup looks are never overdone. I like that she either plays up on her eyes or her lips and it usually looks good with her hairstyle, nails and outfits. I appreciate that she wears outfits that look amazing on her body whether she is dressed up or dressed down. She hasn’t always had the best outfits in the past but she has definitely evolved with her beauty and style with age and maturity.”

musings from morgan : moisture magic

February 26, 2014By DJMC

Is it just me, or has this felt like the winter that refuses to quit?

Perhaps we’ve just gotten lucky over the last few years and forgotten what it feels like to really have a true north winter that lasts until the bitter end. Whatever the case may be, the cold, dry air doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon and quite frankly, it’s messing with me big time!

My skin and hair have both taken a beating over these bitter last few weeks, and I’ve been thankful to have two products handy to restore moisture all over when I’ve needed it.

As a girl who dyes her hair often, the weather isn’t the only thing that dries my locks out, and that’s why having an intense treatment like Tresemme’s Renewal Hair & Scalp Conditioning Mask is important during times like these. We know using shampoo and conditioner daily comes with it’s own pros and cons, so taking one day a week to break from your usual washing routine to deep condition is really helpful, especially with the dry weather.

The product contains tea tree extract and sunflower seed oil and gives high-quality results that repair your hair, leaving it feeling super soft and easy to work with. I’ve seen it as low as $3.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart on sale in recent weeks, so if you’re looking for something to soften your ‘do, definitely check it out.

As for my skin, you may remember I mentioned in a previous post I’ve been dealing with dry skin this winter like never before. As a result, it’s been a bit of trial and error in finding something that relieves the irritation that comes with having dry skin, and the Spectro Intense Rehydration Face & Body Moisturizer was a hit for me. I was familiar with Spectro products growing up to fix my blemishes, but I had no idea they did moisturizer (and even eczema care products!) and was even more impressed I had a product in front of me that was for the body and face.

It’s definitely made for those of us with sensitive skin. It relives itching, redness and is scent and irritant-free; therefore you can use it without worrying about a potential allergic reaction. The product is super thick – it’s a little hard to tell, but I tried to capture its consistency in the image below as best as possible. I’d even say it’s thicker than a body butter, and a little goes a long way.  It’s quite a relief for those ultra dry spots like elbows, knees, hands and cheeks and in the cold of winter, it really does save the day.

I’m dreaming of warmer weather (but know I’ll be annoyed when my t-zone loses control on our always-humid summer days), but until we get there I’ve got these to rely on to get through these last few weeks of winter!

Disclosure: These products were sent to for editorial consideration by the brand’s public relations team. We tested and reviewed the product to share our honest opinion with you (our fabulous readers) and would only ever recommend or review products we truly believe in!

what’s in my makeup bag : lil steph

February 25, 2014By DJMC

In all truth, I don’t carry a makeup bag around. When I refer to “makeup bag” I actually mean “that place where I keep my daily essentials so that they don’t get lost in the mess that is my makeup collection.”

My daily makeup starts off with the Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette in “Light”. It contains 3 handy cream concealers that can be mixed and matched for the perfect shade to hide my morning dark circles.

Next up, I’ve been testing out the CoverGirl Outlast 3-in-1 Foundation in “945 Warm Beige”. It’s high coverage and long-lasting with a matte finish, and I can’t seem to stop wearing it.

For the cheeks, I like to go bold and bright with the NARS blusher in “Desire”. Very little of this blush goes the longest way to add a touch of warmth and glow to dull skin.

I keep the eyes simple with the Smashbox Softbox II Eyeshadow Palette. It’s great for those everyday neutral eyes that won’t clash with my bright blush. The taupey purples and warm metallics are a step up from the regular browns and beiges. Then, I finish off the eyes with winged liner using my holy grail stay-all-day Lancome Artliner in Black Diamond.

And the grand finale…the Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in Dolly is the perfect MLBB (my lips but better) gloss that pairs well with any dramatic or simple eye look. It’s ultra-moisturizing and has a little lip-plumping zing to wake me up in the morning.

All in all, the only makeup that I actually carry with me is the Buxom Lip Polish and sometimes a setting powder or blotting sheets. I never take the time or effort to touch up so I choose long lasting products to get me through the day.

more february fabulousness : a feature on Global News …

February 24, 2014By stephanie

Once again, bp had the pleasure of providing some helpful tips and tricks on travelling pretty! A very big thank you to Erin Nadler who reached out to me to assist her with this article.

In the article I mentioned my favourite local brands like Consonant Body Organic Hand Cream and Pure+simple Face Oil as essentials for a beautiful flight face, but I have plenty of other loves: NARS The Multiple for a quick swipe of colour for the lips and cheeks upon landing; RMS Beauty “Un” Cover Up to even out the skin tone; and Consonant Body’s award winning Moisturizing Eye Cream. And that’s just for the flight – don’t get me started on what my essentials are for travel and makeup!

Have a read through the Global News article here. If you have a moment, tell us : what are your travel essentials?
