musings from morgan : the magic of beauty

You don’t need to look far to see the holiday season is in full swing. The music is playing, the decorations are up, the shopping is endless and my schedule is filling up with parties, lunches and gatherings as I try to get in as much catch-up time with my loved ones as possible. I’m sure yours is going much the same, and as we’re all bouncing from one party to another, it’s always good to have an arsenal of trusted beauty products behind you that will make getting ready as easy and stress-free as possible.

Whether you’re looking for a complete set of essentials for yourself or for the beauty lover on your shopping list, Caryl Baker Visage has come up with a fabulous solution. The MAGIC OF BEAUTY Holiday Colour Kit landed in my hands complete with a lipstick, lip liner, eyeliner, nail polish and “face frosting” all ready to be put to the test. All you need to add is a mascara and maybe some cheek colour to pull together a complete holiday look!

The lipstick, Secret Potion, was not a shade I’d typically reach for but pleasantly surprised me. It was a warm mauve-like colour and not too intense, creating a not-quite nude but natural looking lip. It had a creamy, hydrating texture that went on smoothly, and the liner in Elixir was a great match.

As a recovering nail-biter I couldn’t swatch the polish on my nails (without dying of shame), however I tried to capture the colour to show you. The shade is called Abracadabra – a deep, almost-black purple which I loved. I’m really into rich tones right now (reds, purples, greens) so I highly recommend this shade, especially for the holiday party circuit!

The Face Frosting is a rose-gold shimmer powder that can work both as a highlighter (in moderation) or as something to lightly dust wherever you want to turn up a holiday look a notch. It’s easy to build and doesn’t go on too pigmented, which in my opinion is perfect so you don’t risk overdoing it.

Last but not least was my favourite product of the bunch, the Long Lasting Gel Liner in Marine. This liner glides on so smoothly and with such a clean line! As someone who always opts for pure black liquid liner, this one really impressed me. Not to mention the colour is to die for.
At just $59.50 for the set, MAGIC OF BEAUTY Holiday Colour Kit will make a perfect go-to set of products for any event in the coming weeks, and makes a wonderful gift for the makeup junkie on your list. I hope your holidays are filled with lots of socializing to show these products off!

  1. Love that lipstick shade! Does it get darker if you apply another coat?

I put about two layers on when applying and I did find it darkened up – I don’t think it would go much more than what’s shown here though. It’s really smooth though, which I loooved.
